Covid Update

In light of the recent change in CDC recommendations on quarantines, we want to provide everyone with an update.

We had a meeting on Monday with the Peoria ROE and Peoria County Health Department.  Despite the new CDC recommendations, as of now schools are required to continue to follow the protocols that are already in place.

Quarantine Timeframes

  • Symptomatic individuals - 10 days after the onset of symptoms
  • Asymptomatic individuals - 10 days after the date their positive test was administered
  • Close contacts - 14 days after their last exposure to a positive case
  • Students who are fully vaccinated and are a close contact are not required to quarantine, but it is recommended they be tested 5 days after exposure. Students are not considered fully vaccinated until 2 weeks AFTER their second dose is administered.

PLEASE NOTE: Home test kits are NOT accepted by the health department for a negative result and therefore we cannot accept them at school.  A positive result on a home test kit will need to be verified by a PCR test so the health department has an official record of the positive result.

Testing sites are listed on the health department website HERE.

If someone in your home is positive for covid, your child will need a release letter from the health department to return to school unless they are fully vaccinated and symptom free.  Please call the health department at (312) 777-1999 as soon as you become aware of the positive case in order to begin the process of symptom tracking and release from quarantine.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions, and we will continue to provide updates if the guidance changes.
